Links to Agency-approved Adoptive Families

There are agency links on this site through which you can look at a number of agency-approved adoptive parents photos and profiles. If you contact a particular agency or prospective adoptive parents, be sure to tell them you were referred by Adoption Advocates. If you find adoptive parents you are interested in and you want Maryl to contact them and gather information for you, just call and we'll do it quickly.

Links to Agency-approved Prospective Adoptive Families

The prospective adoptive parents who have their personal web page links on the AdoptionAdvocatesOnline.org site have all completed their home studies, have been agency approved and are ready to adopt. The home study process is a thorough examination of medical health, financial records, and employment, as well as a state and federal fingerprint check for any documented history of criminal activity. Agencies also check for any record of child abuse. Some agencies let the birth parents read the adoptive parents' home study report, some do not. Adoptive parents are given a copy of their home study when it is completed, however, and they are free to share it with the birth family if they so choose.

Additional Adoption Sites Which Display Profiles of Prospective Adoptive Parents

Important note: A number of the families listed in the links below have not yet been agency approved; you will have to clarify this when or if you contact them. Those who are looking for a baby to adopt who have not completed a home study may be planning to adopt through independent or private adoption. In this latter type of adoption, no home study is completed on the adoptive parents until after the birth parents place the baby in the adoptive parents' home.

In private, or independent adoption, the burden for prescreening the adoptive parents falls on the birth parents, or on an attorney who represents the birth parents. This type of screening is not as thorough; no medical examination of the adoptive parents is required, no federal or state fingerprint check is done, and any information about employment or finances is usually provided by the adopting parents when they fill out a form for an attorney or adoption facilitator. This information may not be verified by attorneys and facilitators. Most adoptive parents who adopt thorough private, independent adoption "pass" the home studies which are done for them after they take the baby home.
